Aisling O’Brien is a multimedia artist, that is mainly interested in creating works that are based on her personal contemporary fears and experiences. But instead of just showing us her fears and what she has seen, she shows us the emotions she felt through each moment. Aisling’s visual work explores the gothic uncanny and plays with the disturbing Monstrous Feminine. The work tries to create a sense of suffocation in the viewers, make them feel as she felt in those moments she tries to recreate, make them feel lost in an unknown time and place never feeling fully settled. Made to disturb and discomfort, Aisling strives to divide viewer’s emotions by disconnecting them from the world around them and bringing them into the world she sees, the world through her eyes, through an eerie distorted journey of mystery and intrigue.
